IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wallace Camlin
Moulton
October 7, 1944 – December 5, 2025
Wallace Camlin Moulton passed away peacefully at his home after complications from Parkinson's and kidney disease. He was the son of John Henry Moulton III and Leland Camlin Moulton and was married to Charlotte Hamer Moulton in 1969 at Duncan Memorial Methodist Church.
Growing up on Front Street in Georgetown, Wallace forged many friendships during his childhood and teenage years that lasted throughout his lifetime. He mourned deeply those who passed on before him and felt great love and appreciation for those who remained with him to the end.
Wallace was a graduate of Winyah High School and the Baptist College of Charleston where he majored in English. Upon graduation, he taught high school and worked for Waccamaw Regional Planning Commission for several years before eventually joining the Georgetown County Department of Probation and Parole where he served as a probation officer and later as the Agent in Charge.
Wallace and his wife Charlotte, the love of his life, welcomed two daughters during the early years of their marriage: Charlotte Elise (Lisa) and Laura Camlin. He adored them both and was devastated by Laura's untimely death in 2009. Wallace was incredibly proud of the many accomplishments of Lisa, a nurse anesthetist, who became his devoted nurse during the most difficult days of his final illness.
An avid golfer, Wallace enjoyed playing at Winyah Country Club with his brother Don and several close friends. He was also a talented musician and singer who taught himself to play the guitar during his high school years, forming a folk music trio at that time and continuing to play and sing during the great majority of his life.
Wallace survived three bouts of cancer, each followed by surgery, but continued to live a full life, remaining strong and upbeat about his condition. Known by all for his love of sharing a vast storehouse of jokes, he somehow even found ways to joke about his cancer journey.
People loved to hear Wallace's impressions of his uncles, cousins, and many Georgetown "characters" who were kept alive in the memories of their friends and family members far beyond their passing. He could make you imagine that you were hearing the person himself.
Perhaps because of the influence of two maternal uncles, Wallace developed a love of restoring antique cars, primarily Studebakers, and forged close and lasting friendships with his fellow car enthusiasts.
Upon his retirement, Wallace and Charlotte moved from Georgetown to a century-old farmhouse in Pleasant Hill, where they were embraced with open arms and were blessed to gain the friendship and love of many people in that caring Christian community.
When his health began to fail dramatically, Wallace and Charlotte returned to Georgetown to be close to medical care. Soon, when the time arrived for caregivers to be found, angels disguised as home care workers Audrey Scott, Jackie Williams, and Mary Pettway – as well as Hospice nurse Devon Owens, social worker Ellie Clark, and others from Amedisys Hospice – arrived to give expert care to Wallace. They aided Charlotte in her constant and tender care.
Wallace Camlin Moulton was preceded in death by his daughter Laura, his parents, his older brother Don , and his nephew Matthew Chapman Lee. He has now gone home to Jesus, his Savior, where he will be reunited with them and countless other loved ones.
Wallace will be sorely missed but forever remembered and cherished by his wife Charlotte, his daughter Lisa (Julie); his sister, June Moulton Lee (Wayne); his beloved grandson, Evan Leland Moulton, and many nieces and nephews who adored their "Uncle Wally."
A memorial service will be held at Duncan Memorial Methodist Church on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary. Burial will be private.
