Georgetown:
Walter Jay Brown, 88, died Sunday, August 17, 2008, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Brown was born in Rochester, Ind. on August 4, 1920, a son of the late Selden J. Brown and Grace Ella Middleton Brown. He graduated from Purdue University in 1943 with a degree in Forestry. Mr. Brown retired from the Woodlands Division of the International Paper Company. He was a member of the Society of American Foresters for over 50 years.
Mr. Brown was also a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, and the Men's Breakfast. He served his church as a Deacon and was Church Treasurer for many years.
Mr. Brown was predeceased by: two brothers; and two sisters.
Surviving are: a sister, Ellamae Holloway of Rochester, Ind.; and sixteen nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be eleven o'clock Wednesday morning, August 20, 2008, at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Stephen H. Wilkins and the Rev. William Puckett.
