Georgetown ~

Welton Brockington Roberts, 86, has finished his race and kept the faith passed away, on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Welton was born on March 13th, 1938 in Pleasant Hill South Carolina. The oldest of four children, of Gary Detlaw Roberts and Aerie Avant. Preceded in joining the Lord by his brother Charles D Roberts and granddaughter Allison B Howell.

Welton was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School. Retired from International Paper as a lab technician of 39 years. Was a member of Georgetown First Assembly of God, was a true servant of God as a deacon on the board and was a helper over the food bank and maintenance and also a member of the adult Sunday school class. Welton married Mary Carl of Georgetown in 1961. Happily married for 64 years and had two children Sidney Roberts(Cathy) and Cheryl Clement(Ray).

He enjoyed golfing, and fishing, and was inseparable from his El Camino and red truck. He served in the Army National Guard of South Carolina from 1956 to 1965 with an honorable discharge.

Survived by his wife Mary, son Sidney, daughter Cheryl, sister Ann Cook, brother Gary, granddaughter Ashley Louer (Mike) grandson Nicholas Roberts, and granddaughter Taylor Howell. Great grandchildren, Ariana Harris, Zayden Harris, Averie Roberts, and Maylynn Carter. Also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at First Assembly of God.  Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

The Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
