Georgetown:
Willard Hadley (Squeak) Mitchum, 75, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, at the Medical University of S. C. Hospital in Charleston.
Mr. Mitchum was born in Williamsburg County on December 1, 1929, a son of the late Millard Butler Mitchum and Laura Suzanne Tisdale Mitchum. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army and served in the Korean War. Mr. Mitchum was retired from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Department and worked at Mitchum's Mercantile in Santee. He was a member of the VFW and the University of South Carolina Gamecock Club. Mr. Mitchum was an avid Gamecock fan and followed all USC sporting events. He enjoyed sharing stories and experiences while spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his sister, Mrs. Clyde Clayton (Jacqueline) Windham of Florence; sisters-in-laws, Mrs. James Jentry (Lucille) Mitchum, Mrs. Walter Barlow (Lilas) Mitchum, and Mrs. Theodore Pershing (Juanita) Mitchum of Georgetown; brother-in-law, Joe Groverman of Georgetown; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters (Mildred, Myra, and Dorothy), and seven brothers (Eden, Doris, Reynolds, Barlow, Porter, Jentry, and Neil).
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning, April 5, 2005, at eleven o'clock at Screven Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. R. Wayne Ellis. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Williamsburg County.
