Georgetown: William Edward Allen, 78, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. Mr. Allen was born in Gary, Ind. on April 19, 1929, a son of the late William H. Allen and Mildred Rush Allen. He grew up in Indiana and served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Allen graduated from Purdue University with a B. S. degree in Industrial Engineering and the University of Chicago with a Masters degree in Business Administration. After retirement from Union Carbide, he moved to Georgetown from Rye, N. Y. in 1989. Mr. Allen was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and the widower of Doris Jane Jansen Allen. Surviving are: two sons, W. David Allen of Crofton, Md. and Robert J. Allen of Georgetown; and two grandchildren, Matthew H. Allen of Cornelius, N. C. and Chelsea J. Allen of Crofton, Md. Memorial services will be eleven o'clock Monday morning, November 19, 2007, in the Chapel of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Phillip C. Thrailkill.
