Georgetown: William J. Anderson, Sr., 81, died Friday, April 6, 2012, at his son's residence. Mr. Anderson was born in Georgetown on May 28, 1930, a son of the late Edward Anderson and Minnie Lambert Anderson. He was a former employee of Ward's Roofing Company and retired as Fire Chief of the City of Georgetown in 1989. Mr. Anderson was a member of Fireside Ministries and the SC Firemen's Association. Surviving are: his wife, Lillie M. Anderson of Georgetown; a daughter, Glenda A. Avant (Wally) of Georgetown; two sons, Pastor Billy Anderson (Flora) and Mitch Anderson (Karen), both of Georgetown; a brother, Ben Anderson (Betty) of Georgetown; a sister, Mary A. Parker of Georgetown; a sister-in-law, Lula Anderson of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Will Anderson (Mandy), Christy Anderson (Ryan), Brad Anderson (Bernie), Jan Avant, Mitchie Anderson (Amanda), and Jimmy Anderson; and eight great-grandchildren, Josie, Ethan, Lillian, Eli, Amos, Corrin, David, and Micah Anderson. Mr. Anderson was predeceased by: three brothers, Edward Anderson, Harry Anderson, and David Anderson; and a sister, Bertha Altman Owens. Funeral services will be two o'clock Monday afternoon, April 9, 2012, at Fireside Ministries. Officiating will be Pastor Billy Anderson. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
