William Allen Bamberger

William Allen Bamberger, 81, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, died on July 30, 2026, at Grand Strand Medical Center after a sudden illness.

Bill was born on July 24, 1945, in Queens, New York, to the late Kalman and Gladys Bamberger. He spent his formative years in New York and graduated from the High School of Art and Design in 1963. Soon after high school, Bill served three years in the United States Army. In 1976, life led him to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with his young family.

In 1997, early in his retirement, Bill moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he volunteered for several years with the Horry County Guardian ad Litem Program, advocating for children in the foster care system. In 2005, he moved to Brunswick, Georgia, spending many peaceful days walking the beaches of St. Simons Island with his beloved pups. Bill returned to Myrtle Beach in 2017, settling into the Myrtle Beach Golf and Yacht Club, where he made many cherished friends.

Those who knew Bill will remember him as a gentleman with a quick wit and keen sense of humor. He was never at a loss for words when he had something funny to share. He had a lifelong love of classic cars and an uncanny ability to identify them by the smallest details. Bill appreciated the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and had the opportunity to visit several homes in his collection. He enjoyed tending his flower gardens and adored the many dogs who accompanied him throughout his life, including (but not limited to) Fergie, Rudy, Hannah, Scout, and Hank. Bill will also be remembered for the kindness, support, and service he offered to many during times of illness or need. Above all else, Bill considered it a good day if he had the opportunity to make a child smile — no matter how much silliness was required.

Bill is survived by his companion of 28 years, Laura Cox; Laura’s mother, Lunette Cox, and sister, Lisa Cox Hulit (Henry), all of Britton’s Neck, South Carolina; his daughter, Lori Eden Bamberger Selles (John) of Tempe, Arizona; his sister, Fran Goldman of Long Island, New York; his nieces, Jessica Gleicher (Marc), and Stephanie Silberman (Mark), and four great-nieces, all of Long Island, New York.
