Georgetown:
William Keitt "Kit" Easterling, age 73 passed away at his home on Thursday, November 17, 2005. Mr. Easterling was born on November 4, 1932 in Bennettsville, S.C., a son of the late Keitt Sessoms Easterling and Mary DeLoach Easterling. He attended Bennettsville High School before enlisting in the United States Army where he served honorably as a Sergeant the 11th Airborne Division. He later served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Air Force Reserve. Mr. Easterling received his Bachelor of Science degree from he University of South Carolina in 1957. He was employed by the Central South Carolina Council, Boy Scouts of America as the district Scout executive in Richland County.
Mr. Easterling received his L.L.B. degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law on January 25, 1964. While attending law school, he was a member of the Student Bar Association and Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. He practiced law in Columbia, S.C. for 19 years before relocating his practice to Myrtle Beach, S.C. While in Columbia, he was a member of the Tuesday Evening Optimist International, and he served as president in 1970. He was also a member of the Executive Association of Greater Columbia, serving as president during 1979-1980.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sarah Margaret Palmer Easterling; four daughters, Mary E. Turbeville of Columbia, Keitt Easterling-Samtmann of Georgetown, Macon E. Warren and Helen E. Farias both of Pawleys Island; and eight grandchildren, Bill, Shannon, Patrick, Kelly and Michael Turbeville, O'Neill and Reed Samtmann, and Caroline Warren. He is also survived by his brother, Harry R. Easterling of Bennettsville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. today at Duncan United Methodist Church in Georgetown and the graveside services will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Bennettsville at 3:30 p.m. with Reverend Phillip C. Thrailkill officiating.
