Andrews:
William Ira "Murphy" Flowers, 73, died Thursday, October 22, 2009, at Mt. Pleasant Manor in Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Flowers was born on September 4, 1936 in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Robert Murphy Flowers and Lottie Belle Newton Flowers. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps and was the owner of Murphy's Home Service. Mr. Flowers was a member of the Andrews Church of God and served his church as a member of the Pastor's Council and Church Maintenance Committee. He was also a Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher and served with the Bus Ministry.
Surviving are: his wife, Nell Flowers of Andrews; three sons, William Timothy Flowers and Michael Allen Flowers, both of Andrews, and Christopher Deon Flowers of Aragon, Ga.; two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Flowers and Donna Lanell Flowers, both of Andrews; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at four o'clock Saturday afternoon, October 24, 2009, at Andrews Church of God. Officiating will be The Rev. Edward Hardee, The Rev. Wayne Cox, The Rev. Timmy Flowers and The Rev. David Richardson, Sr. Burial with military honors will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Andrews Church of God on Friday evening, October 23, 2009 from six until eight o'clock.
