Sumter: William H. Frey, 82, died Friday, June 11, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Mr. Frey was born in Andrews on September 16, 1921, a son of the late Benedict Frey and Emily Hanser Frey. He grew up in Andrews and retired in 1963 as a Technical Sergeant after 20 years service in U. S. Air Force. Mr. Frey was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. After retirement, He returned to Sumter to live, where he was employed by Sumter City School District #17 from 1967-1977. Mr. Frey was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Surviving are: his wife, Dorothy Cusack Frey of Sumter; two sons, William H. Frey, Jr. of Pawley's Island and Dale E. Frey of Sumter; two grandchildren, Amanda Frey and Stephanie Frey, both of Pawley's Island; a brother, Joseph E. Frey of Marietta, Ga.; and a sister, Sallie Shapinsky of Scottsburg, Ind. The Mass of Christian Burial will be one o'clock Tuesday afternoon, June 15, 2004, at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church at Pawley's Island. Officiating will be the Rev. Patrick J. Stenson. Burial with military honors will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens in Georgetown. The family will receive friends at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home, Monday evening, June 14, 2004, from six until eight with a Prayer Service at seven.
