Georgetown:
William Metts "Bill" Gause 83, husband of Cheryl Jean Harcourt Gause, died Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet.
Mr. Gause was born June 6, 1935 in Conway. He was a son of the late Paul Dixon Gause, Sr. and Alma Metts Gause. Mr. Gause graduated from Conway High School in 1952 and proudly served in the military for over 20 years. He served in The Korean Conflict and in French Indo China and later in the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Gause also retired from the U. S. Forest Service after over 20 years employment. He loved to travel, especially by rail, and had a great love of trains.
Mr. Gause was a charter member of Homewood Baptist Church. He was a longtime member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church and was a past deacon, breakfast cook, and duty bus driver for the church. Mr. Gause was also a member of American Legion Post #114 and a volunteer at Georgetown Memorial Hospital for 17 years.
Surviving are: his wife of 53 years; two sons, Bill Gause (Mary) and Steve Gause; two daughters, Cindy Rumsey (Rob) and Jean Weeks; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will be ten o'clock Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Georgetown Presbyterian Church Columbarium. Memorial Services will follow at eleven o'clock in the church. A reception will be held immediately following the Memorial Services in the Church Fellowship Hall.
