Murrells Inlet:
William Christopher "Chris" Harmeyer, 61, died Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet.
Mr. Harmeyer was born in Georgetown on November 11, 1954, a son of William Michael "Mik" Harmeyer and the late Syble Lofton Harmeyer. He grew up in Georgetown and was a graduate of Winyah High School and the University of South Carolina with a degree in English. Mr. Harmeyer served in the U.S. Air Force. He was self-employed and worked with several cemeteries including Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens in Georgetown. Mr. Harmeyer had a love for golf and was an avid S.C. Gamecock fan.
Surviving in addition to his father are: his wife, Teresa Jean Newman Harmeyer of Murrells Inlet; three sons, Tyler Harmeyer (Tabitha) of Houston, Tex., Lofton Harmeyer of Laurens, and Shayne Crocker (Crystal) of Clarksville, Tenn.; two sisters, Victoria H. Smith of Manassas, Va. and Sonya H. Marsden of Vienna, Va.; and two grandchildren, Olivia Harmeyer and Brayden Crocker.
Memorial services will be four o'clock Tuesday afternoon, January 5, 2016, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
