Georgetown:
William Edwin "Bubba" Jayroe, Sr., 86, died Saturday, May 03, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Jayroe was born in Georgetown on October 24, 1927, a son of the late Peter Columbus Jayroe and Pearl Florence Skinner Jayroe. He grew up on Benvenue Plantation and graduated from Winyah High School. Mr. Jayroe was a former employee of SCDNR and a former manager of both Dirleton Plantation and Milton Hall Plantation, where he worked for 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent most of his time in and around the Pee Dee River. Mr. Jayroe took six mission trips during his lifetime, mostly in the Caribbean.
Surviving are: his wife, Annie Faye Jordan Jayroe of Georgetown; two sons, William Edwin Jayroe (Carol) and Rev. Richard C. Jayroe (Linda), both of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Tiffany J. Watts, Carla Brandon, Davis Jayroe, Cyndel Dangerfield, Ashley Burrows, and John David Burrows; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Col. J. Skinner Jayroe of San Antonio, Tex. and Richard "Dickie" Jayroe of Georgetown; and two sisters, Mildred J. Truay of Charleston and Juanita J. Bassett of Richmond, Va.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jayroe was predeceased by: a daughter, Cynthia Burrows; a sister; and four brothers.
Memorial services will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, May 5, 2014, at Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Marie Knuckles.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2014, at the Church from three until five o'clock.
