Pawley's Island:
William Henry Klopfer, 78, died Monday, November 3, 2003, at NHC Healthcare of Garden City.
Mr. Klopfer was born in Blakely, Pa. on October 27, 1925, a son of the late William Ernest Klopfer and Lillian Margaret Hofsommer Klopfer. He grew up in Archbald, Pa. and graduated from Keystone Jr. College and Bucknell University. Mr. Klopfer served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of Oriental Star Lodge #588, Ancient FreeMasons in Peckville, Pa. He lived in Archbald, Pa, Trumbull, Conn., and Charleston prior to moving to Pawley's Island, in 1974. Mr. Klopfer was the widower of Anna Theresa Macarski Klopfer.
Mr. Klopfer was employed by Avco Lycoming in Stratford Conn. and Charleston for a time. He retired as Director of Industrial Relations for Andrews Wire and Georgetown Steel, where he had been employed for a number of years.
Surviving are: two sons, William J. Klopfer of Seymour, Conn. and Barry B. Klopfer of Pawley's Island; a daughter, Beverly Sanders of Charlotte, N. C.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held.
