Georgetown:
William S. McDonald, 94, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. McDonald was born in Chester, S.C. on September 30, 1913, a son of the late William Stormant McDonald and Faye Walsh McDonald. After graduating high school, he attended Furman University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Mr. McDonald taught school for a time before becoming the Regional Manager of International Paper Co., Container Division in Georgetown. He retired in 1979 as Manager of the Uniwood Division of International Paper Co. in Statesville, N.C. Mr. McDonald was the former Governor of the Georgetown Moose Lodge and a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Adelaide McNeill McDonald.
Surviving are: a son, William S. McDonald, Jr. of Georgetown; two daughters, Nancy McDonald Hardee and her husband Don and Margaret McDonald Elliott and her husband Paul, all of Georgetown; a sister, Elizabeth McDonald Cleveland of Cleveland, S.C.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be one o'clock Friday afternoon, January 11, 2008, at the First Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill and the Rev. Gary Hanna. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
