Pawleys Island: William Henry Schroff, III, 70, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Schroff was born in Chicago, Ill. on May 23, 1942, a son of the late William Henry Schroff, II and Elizabeth Pauline Conkey Schroff. He was a U. S. Air Force Reserve veteran and a member of the American Legion, Ducks Unlimited, Inc., Moose Lodge, and Elks. Mr. Schroff was the former owner of Dollar Rent-A-Car in Washington, D. C. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. Surviving are: his wife, Eleanor Smoot Schroff of Pawleys Island and Basye, Va.; a son, William H. Schroff, IV of Pawleys Island and Basye, Va.; two daughters, Colleen Schroff Crusinberry (Jeffrey) of Corona, Calif. and Deborah Schroff Smith (Arthur C.) of Sterling, Va.; two brothers, James P. Schroff (Mikki) of Fairfax, Va. and Dennis F. Schroff (Brenda) of Vienna, Va.; a sister, Suzanne S. Hall of Naples, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Meghann, Jessica, Danielle, Jordan, and Brenton.
