Myrtle Beach:
William Lee "Billy" Simmons, Jr., 67, died Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet.
Mr. Simmons was born in Andrews on April 2, 1938, a son of the late William Lee Simmons and Emily Blakely Simmons. He was a graduate of Winyah High School in Georgetown, Class of 1956, and attended N. C. State University and Wofford College. Mr. Simmons retired from the Container Division of International Paper Co. He moved to Myrtle Beach in 1981. Mr. Simmons was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Gaynell Vernon Simmons of Myrtle Beach; a son, Rev. Benjamin P. Simmons and his wife Renee of Heath Springs; a daughter, Julie S. Baxley of Conway; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Oliver Simmons of Conway; a sister, Emily S. Knight and her husband Walter "Doc" of Hillsbourgh, N. C.; six grandchildren, Charlie Baxley, Benjamin Simmons, Jacob Simmons, Shelley Simmons, Miranda Skipper, and Christen Simmons; and several aunts, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Simmons was predeceased by: a son, Dennis Jeffery Simmons; a brother, Clarence David "Cammy" Simmons; and a sister, Debra Elizabeth "Beth" Simmons.
Funeral services will be two o'clock Thursday afternoon, August 4, 2005, at Johnson Chapel Baptist Church in Georgetown Co. Officiating will be the Rev. Chris Marsh and the Rev. Benjamin P. Simmons. Burial will follow in the Churchyard.
