Georgetown:
William "Billy" Samuel Stevenson, Sr., 82, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Sevenson was born in Georgetown on April 14, 1925, a son of the late James White Stevenson, Sr. and Ruby Porter Stevenson. He grew up in Georgetown, graduated from Winyah High School, and served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Stevenson ran Stevenson's Grocery Store for a number of years and later worked with Loyal Motor Co. and Bay City Ford. He retired from Liberty Life Ins. Co. Mr. Stevenson was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church and served his church as a Deacon, Elder, and member of the Building Fund. He was the widower of Joyce Cameron Stevenson.
Surviving are: a son, William S. Stevenson, Jr. and his wife Kathi of Georgetown; a daughter, Joy Stevenson Brock of Georgetown; three granddaughters, Michelle Wood and her husband Kenneth, Shelby B. Brown and her husband William, and Jana E. Stevenson, all of Georgetown; two grandsons, Joshua N. Hill and his wife Kristen of Myrtle Beach and William S. " Tripp" Stevenson of Georgetown; a great-granddaughter, Lexi Brown of Georgetown; and three great-grandsons, J. J. Hill, Samuel Wood, and Ethan Wood, all of Georgetown.
Funeral services will be 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning, April 26, 2007, at Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Stephen H. Wilkins. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
