Georgetown, William "Willie" A. Towne, Jr., 82, husband of Patsy Ruth Towne, passed away Monday morning, December 31, 2018, at his home. Mr. Towne was born November 9, 1936, in Williston, SC, a son of the late William Arte Towne, Sr. and Grace Valerie Miles Towne. While in high school, Willie discovered his talent for the automotive parts business. His career began at Craven's Auto Electric on Meeting Street in downtown Charleston. He became part owner in Hall's Auto Electric in North Charleston in 1966 and then went in to business for himself in 1970. He opened Auto Supply& Equipment on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard and his children are still carrying on his business today. Mr. Towne was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served on several committees including, Lay Delegate to the Annual Conference, Finance Committee, Administration Board and the Pastor Parish Relation Committee. He loved to travel. His passion in life was his wife, children, and grandchildren and everything he did was for his family. Surviving are; his wife of Georgetown; two sons, William Arte Towne, III of Asheville, NC; Richard Louis Towne, Sr. (Wendy) of Summerville; two daughters, Rhonda Towne Bearfield (Robert) of Andrews; and Valerie Towne Morris (Henry) of Charleston; six grandchildren, Marlin Morris, Wade Bearfield, Coby Morris, Carrie Bearfield, Richard Towne, Jr. and Georgia Towne; and two brothers, Charles Roland Towne, Sr. (Treva) of Charleston and James Franklin Towne, Sr. of Portland, OR. Funeral Services will be two o'clock Thursday afternoon, January 3, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ben Gafford. Burial will follow in Piney Forest Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Wednesday evening, January 2, 2019, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from six until eight o'clock.
