Willie Roland Browder, 97, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at his home in Georgetown.
Born January 20, 1928, in Williamsburg County, SC, he was the son of the late Willie and Mary Browder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Florence Browder; sisters, Ethel Knight and Lulu Tisdale; a son, Kurtiss Hewitt; and step-grandchild, Whitney Bone.
Roland was a hard worker and spent 35 years employed with the Box Plant at International Paper in Georgetown. He enjoyed tending to a large garden every year and was well-known as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a talented musician and singer.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his son, Frankie (Carolyn) Hewitt; his grandchildren, Dale (Jessica) Hewitt, Joey (Renee) Hewitt, Nicole Burbage, Tiffany Britt, Brandon Lynn, Donald (Brenda) Mercer, Jr., Chris Mercer,; his stepchildren, Karen (Edward) Richardson, Melissia (Dwayne) Bone, and Donald (Donna) Mercer; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, including four special nephews, George and O'Neal Bellamy, Herman Browder, and Roy Lee Knight.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his friends, his pastor, and his hospice workers for their dedicated care.
Visitation will be from Noon – 2:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Graves Station Baptist, with funeral services at 2:00 PM. Pastor Chris Giles will officiate. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607
